Mr. Markovic Ognjen, a senior executive with over 40 years in the energy sector, specializes in the development and implementation of utility restructuring, management, and market reform in the energy sector. As the Chief of Party for the USAID-sponsored Energy Investment Activity (EIA) and the Regulatory Energy Assistance Project (REAP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), he provided strategic leadership for crucial policy reforms in the electricity sector, and assisted three regulatory entities and power sector operating entities to develop and implement rules and processes to meet Energy Community Treaty energy market and regional cooperation requirements. Previously, as Head of Energy Office of Kosovo Trust Agency (2002-2006), he was responsible for oversight and management of the power utility and transmission system operator. This included proactive participation in the process of restructuring the power sector companies, the development and implementation of plans to commercialize the existing utilities, and supervision of investment plan implementation, as well as support the other aspects of advising on approaches, systems, and technologies for improving the operational and financial performance of utilities Mr. Markovic has also held various management positions in power utilities, including as General Director and Executive Director of a vertically integrated company, Executive Director of a transmission system operator (TSO), and Executive Director for operation, maintenance and investment in the TSO.
